B 12 Update

Results came back that the B 12 was low and my Vit D was borderline line.  It surprised me on the Vit D being low I have been taking 1000 units twice a day.  But I had not been taking calcium consistantly.  They started me on the B12 shots and I am making sure I take the calcium along w/ the Vit D.  Also making sure to take with meals for better absorption.  I hadnt done yoga in a while.  I did it the past few days.  Crazy how much better it makes me feel.  I know how good it is for me.  I need to take time to do it more.  I ordered something to help strengthen my hips and pelvic area.  Have yet to receive it.  I will let you know how that goes.  Love and prayers to all of you.  Take care of yourself.

Wow, thanks for all this news! I hope all of us get the vitamin readout when we have a checkup...look forward to hearing about something to help strengthen hips and pelvic area. Be strong!

Well done with the Yoga. I am so stiff, I can't do much. Pilates works best for me.

It is called pelRing. Another AC survivor suggested it. But I still haven’t got it yet

Thanks for the update Shannon. Good that you are pursuing testing for overall health. I have a comprehensive blood test at least once a year. Vitamin D seems like a bit of a conundrum: in my case I have too much D for some reason and am told not to take supplements that have it. Oh, well...we AC survivors have all come to a heightened awareness about our bodies’ needs, and the mantra: Just take care of it! Best to you.

Good news on the yoga, Shannon – I need to do it more too! I take vitamin D and calcium together in one gummy every morning with breakfast – I found those calcium pills hard to swallow. Hope you get some energy back if you get your B 12 levels back up to normal!

That's right Shannon. We each ate so different in our recovery. It's about finding what works for you and tweaking it. This takes time and effort so I'm glad u are caring for YOU. You go girl! I am cheering for u!

Keep up the good work. Sounds like your going to be feeling much better. I haven’t had my vit B checked. They check calcium and vit D after treatment ended. Now I’m curious. 🤔

Thanks for the update! I will now take my calcium with Vit D at meals. I practiced yoga daily before MIMA (mass in my a**) invaded my territory. I’ve been back on my mat for about 8 weeks and it undoubtably is helping my pelvis heal and reversing the lingering effects of treatments. Take it slow. Don’t push your body into stretches that it is not ready for. If an asana hurts back off and be patient. Meet your body where it is .. you’ll see/feel results in time. I suggest trying Yin Yoga. It is a slow-paced style of yoga where poses are held for longer periods of time than in other styles. For beginners, asanas can be held from 45 seconds to two minutes; more advanced practitioners may stay in one asana for five minutes or more. The sequences of postures stimulate the energy channels (meridians in Chinese medicine) which unblock stuck energy thus encouraging deep healing. By holding the poses longer It applies moderate stress to the connective tissues of the body—the tendons, fascia, and ligaments—thus increasing circulation in the joints and improving flexibility. Additionally, it’s more meditative which, for me, provides increased body awareness, inner silence, and the ability to forgive MIMA and Cancer for the trauma it has inflicted on mind, body and spirit.
